Edward A. Julian, Sr., a Tri-C alumnus and 2026-2027 Ohio Poet Laureate, will return to Tri-C on September 17 to share his poetry and experience. His journey is a powerful testament to transformation through purpose, discipline, and action.
Julian was born and raised in Cleveland. He earned his Associate of Arts degree from Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C), where he also played basketball, developing discipline, leadership, and teamwork. He later pursued studies in social work at Cleveland State University, strengthening his commitment to community impact. After serving 14 years in federal prison, Edward embraced accountability, therapy, and self-improvement, refusing to let his past dictate his future. Today, he resides in Columbus where he is a published author, poet, motivational speaker, and creator of The Begin Within Initiative Life Skills Course.
